A Quick Introduction

I am completing a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy, a Bachelor of Science in Health & Society, and a Bachelor of Art in Biology at Southern Methodist University (SMU).

I began playing piano at 8-years-old and picked up the double bass at 11. I still play bass and now have 11 years of experience in both orchestral and solo playing. I am also proficient in guitar, piano, and voice thanks to my education in music therapy.

Around the same time that I started piano, I also discovered my love for medicine and helping others. Lab dissections and science classes fascinated me, and that fascination combined with learning about the plight of those in need of help, such as refugees, instilled a desire in me to help others through medicine.

Now, as I graduate from college, I am set to become a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) after I complete my internship and pass the board exam. Once l become an MT-BC, I plan to complete an MD/Ph.D. program. Utilizing my studies as a music therapist, doctor, and researcher, I aim to combine music therapy and medicine with the goal of creating a meaningful method for doctors to meet their patients where they are -- both biologically and psychosocially.
